Introduction
Source Sounds is a well known car audio and security retailer based in Sheffield. The company supplies professional car audio equipment, alarms and other car electronics to car enthusiasts, prestigious car owners and the general public.
Our relationship with Source Sounds goes back more than 20 years. Over that time we have built several iterations of their website as their business and the internet itself evolved.
Around a decade ago, the Source Sounds team decided to bring website management in-house after a member of staff trained in web development.
When that team member later left the business, they returned to us for help rebuilding their website and bringing their online presence up to modern standards.
The Problem With the Existing Website
The previous website had gradually become difficult to maintain.
Over the years, it had been built using a collection of older page builders and slider plugins that were no longer actively maintained.
While the website still functioned, it had started to develop a number of issues, including:
- Plugin compatibility problems
- Bugs appearing in page layouts
- Slower page load speeds
- Difficulty updating certain sections of the site
One of the biggest challenges was the extensive image gallery that had been built over many years.
The gallery contained a large amount of valuable visual content showcasing products, events and installations, so preserving this content during the rebuild was extremely important.
Our WordPress Website Strategy
After reviewing the website structure and existing systems, we recommended rebuilding the site using a modern WordPress framework.
WordPress was the ideal solution for several reasons.
Firstly, it provides a stable and widely supported content management system that is easy for businesses to manage internally.
Secondly, it allows the website to grow and evolve without relying on outdated plugins or fragile page builder systems.
Our goal was to create a website that would be:
- Flexible for future development
- Easier to maintain
- More reliable
- Faster for users
Rebuilding the Website
The rebuild process involved several important stages.
First, we analysed the existing website structure and content to ensure everything important was retained.
Next, we developed a new WordPress website using modern development standards and lightweight tools designed to maximise stability and performance.
We then began the process of migrating the existing website content.
Migrating the Image Gallery
One of the most technically challenging parts of the project was the migration of the website’s large image gallery.
The gallery contained a huge number of images accumulated over many years.
Rather than manually recreating the gallery, we developed a migration approach that allowed us to move the image content safely into the new WordPress system.
This ensured:
- No images were lost
- Existing content remained intact
- The gallery could continue growing in the future
Successfully migrating this content without data loss was a key milestone in the project.

The new website includes several improvements that ensure it remains stable and easy to maintain moving forward.

The new site runs on a modern WordPress platform built using reliable, well supported tools.
Improved Performance
By removing outdated plugins and heavy page builders, the website now performs significantly more reliably.

Modern WordPress plugins were selected to ensure long term compatibility and stability.

Results
The rebuilt website successfully replaced the previous system and resolved the technical issues that had been developing over time.
Since launch, the website has been significantly more stable and easier to maintain.
The removal of outdated page builders and problematic plugins has helped prevent the bugs and compatibility problems that were previously appearing.
The successful migration of the large image gallery also ensured that years of valuable visual content were preserved.
We continue to support Source Sounds on an ongoing basis, helping them improve and grow their online presence as their business evolves.
