🔒 Private AI Hosting

AI that keeps your data in the UK

Your staff are pasting client information into ChatGPT. Not maliciously — because it saves them twenty minutes and nobody told them not to.

Private AI hosting gives them the same convenience on infrastructure you control, where the data stays in the UK and is never used to train anybody’s model.

⚠️ The problem

Nobody wrote a policy for this

In most businesses we visit, AI arrived from the bottom up. Someone in accounts started drafting emails with it. Someone in sales summarised a call. Someone pasted a client contract in to get a plain-English read on clause fourteen.

None of that is unreasonable behaviour — it is what a genuinely useful free tool looks like in the wild. The problem is that on consumer tiers of some AI services, what you type can be retained and used to improve the model. Client information has left your control and you cannot get it back or say where it went.

If you handle personal data under UK GDPR, that is a problem you own whether or not you knew it was happening.

✅ The alternative

What private AI hosting actually is

An AI assistant that behaves like the tools your staff already like, with three differences: it runs on infrastructure we manage in the UK, it is contractually guaranteed never to train on your data, and it knows about your business because we have given it your documents.

That last part is what stops people treating it as a novelty. An assistant that has read your policies, your quotes, your product specs and your previous proposals is useful in a way a blank chat box never is.

🛠️ How it works

Five steps from go-ahead to your team using it

01

Work out what it needs to know

Usually policies, procedures, product information, past quotes and whatever else your team keeps re-explaining to each other.

02

Build the retrieval layer

Your documents are indexed so the assistant answers from your material rather than guessing — and cites which document it used.

03

Host it properly

UK data residency, contractual no-training, encryption in transit and at rest.

04

Set up access and logging

Who can use it, what they can reach, and a record you can show a client or a regulator.

05

Train your staff, write the policy

A tool without a policy just moves the problem somewhere else.

Typical timescale

Two to three weeks. Most of that is collecting and tidying the documents — work you benefit from regardless.

🤝 Straight talking

What we will talk you out of

Plenty of suppliers will happily sell a small business its own AI server. For almost everyone, that is the wrong purchase.

Dedicated hardware only makes financial sense at very high usage — far beyond what a typical business generates. Below that threshold you are paying several hundred pounds a month for something that would cost a fraction of that to run properly.

What clients actually need is a guarantee about where data goes and who is accountable for it. That is what we sell. If your usage ever genuinely justifies dedicated hardware, we will tell you, and the Dedicated tier is there.

Who this is for

The businesses that get most from this are the ones that cannot use public AI freely: solicitors and conveyancers, accountants and bookkeepers, healthcare and dental practices, recruiters holding candidate data, financial advisers, and any business whose client contracts specify where data may be processed. It also suits manufacturers and engineering firms sitting on technical documentation nobody can find.

Frequently asked questions

No. The distinction is where your data is processed, whether it is retained for training, and whether the assistant has been given your own documents to answer from. On the Business and Dedicated tiers it runs on our infrastructure using open models rather than a third-party consumer service.

What happens to our data?

It stays in the UK, it is encrypted, it is never used to train a model, and access is logged. If you leave, we export your data and delete our copies. That commitment goes in the contract, not just on this page.

Do we still need a ChatGPT subscription?

Often not. Many clients replace per-seat consumer subscriptions with one private assistant, which usually costs less overall as well as being safer.

How long does setup take?

Typically two to three weeks from go-ahead. Most of that is collecting and tidying the documents you want it to know about.

What if the AI gives a wrong answer?

It will, occasionally — every AI does. That is why the assistant cites the document it answered from, so staff can check, and why we insist on a usage policy that says what must be verified before it goes to a client.

Can it connect to our other systems?

Usually yes. CRM, email, document storage and quoting systems are common integrations, quoted separately as an automation project from £1,495 + VAT.

I’ve been working with dijitul for years now, and Olly, Connah and the team have always been very helpful and supportive, even when things have gone wrong at 4pm on the Friday of a Bank Holiday weekend. They understand the pressures of running a microenterprise and always seek to find affordable, secure solutions.
