Starting a business is hard. Getting found is harder.
R2G is an energy consultancy specialising in energy performance services, including Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) and Display Energy Certificates (DECs). It is a genuinely useful business in a market with real demand — but as a start-up, it was entering a category already crowded with established assessors, national compliance firms and price-comparison sites.
None of that matters if nobody can find you. When we started, R2G had almost no organic visibility for the searches that mattered, no local search presence to speak of, and no dedicated pages targeting the specific services and locations its customers were actually searching for.
Our brief was straightforward: build the search foundations properly, so that growth compounds instead of stalling the moment a campaign budget runs out.
The website
Service pages built around what people actually search for
Every page mapped to a real search intent — EPCs, DECs, commercial assessments — rather than to an internal org chart.
What we did
We built and optimised dedicated landing pages around R2G’s core services, making sure each one targeted a specific search intent and gave visitors a clear answer rather than a brochure. Alongside that, we created location-focused pages to capture local demand, and tightened up page structure, content relevance and internal linking across the site.
The work
Where the effort went
- EPC service pages optimised for search visibility
- Location landing pages targeting local demand
- Improved page structure and content relevance
- Internal linking built out across the site
- Messaging aligned to real customer search behaviour
- Google Business Profile fully optimised
- Service visibility improved in local results
- Ongoing performance monitoring and refinement
The results
The figures below compare January to July 2026 against January to July 2025, measured in GA4. R2G started from a very small base — which is exactly what a start-up looks like — so we have shown the actual before and after numbers rather than percentages alone.

Organic growth
Growth across every organic metric
Year-on-year change. Landing page growth reflects the new service and location pages beginning to earn their keep.
Local search did a lot of the heavy lifting
For a service business, the Google Business Profile is often the first thing a customer sees — and frequently the only thing they interact with. We optimised R2G’s profile properly: accurate business information, clearly listed services, and consistent signals matching the website.
Between March and July 2026 the profile generated 188 interactions and 180 direction requests, with performance climbing month on month and peaking in July. Direction requests are a strong intent signal — people looking up where you are do not tend to be idly browsing.
We have worked with Olly to help get our start-up business on the right tracks from a marketing perspective. He is knowledgeable and really helped us understand how to maximise our presence on Google. All while being great to work with and a fantastic communicator. Looking forward to our continued work together.

What we handle month to month
Foundations, not fireworks
R2G has gone from effectively invisible to attracting a steady, growing audience of people actively searching for energy assessment services. The percentages are large because the starting point was small — that is the honest reading of a start-up’s first year — but the direction, the consistency and the quality of the traffic are what matter here.
The foundations are now in place: pages that target real demand, a local presence that converts, and a site structured to keep growing. We are continuing to build on all three.
Starting from scratch? That is not a disadvantage.
New businesses can rank — they just need the foundations built properly the first time. We will take an honest look at where you stand and tell you exactly where the opportunities are. No jargon, no lock-in contracts.
