Easily Disable WordPress Pingback Notification Emails

Every now and then one of our team members comes across an issue that surprises us – in the sense we are amazed that we cant find other people talking about it. And any post we can find about it doesn’t really address the issue.
We recently re-hosted a WordPress website that does lots and lots of inter-linking of posts. He also gets mentioned on a fair amount of external forum posts and blogs, which results in lots of Pingbacks. As an admin user, I was getting a ton of emails every day and due to the amount of emails I get generally it was becoming an issue. So, I started looking into how we can Disable WordPress Pingback Notification Emails specifically, without disabling the pingback feature.
Disabling All WordPress Notifications
There are tons of plugins that will switch off all admin notifications, if you dont want any at all then thats fine. I did find a few plugins that allowed you to be a bit more specific with what you do and dont want to disable – but I was unable to test how well they worked due to those features being part of a paid upgrade.
My search continued.
Editing WordPress Email Notifications

The next load of plugins I looked into were focused around editing the content of the WordPress Admin email notifications – I wondered if I was able to edit the content, perhaps I could figure out how to solve my problem this way?
I couldnt.
WP Custom Emails
I searched for “pingback notifications” specifically in the WordPress plugin directory, and it found two plugins. One of them was WP Custom Emails and reading the description, it may just do the trick.
I installed, went to the settings page;

I am now waiting to see if this has worked, but I’m fairly confident.
I hope this post helps others that may be having issues when trying to Disable WordPress Pingback Notification Emails.
