A twenty-year relationship
Source Sounds is a well known car audio and security retailer based in Sheffield, supplying professional car audio equipment, alarms and other car electronics to enthusiasts, prestige car owners and the general public.
Our relationship with Source Sounds goes back more than 20 years. Over that time we have built several iterations of their website as their business — and the internet itself — evolved. Around a decade ago the team brought website management in-house after a member of staff trained in web development. When that person later left the business, they returned to us to rebuild the website and bring their online presence back up to modern standards.
The website
Rebuilt on modern WordPress
Outdated page builders and fragile slider plugins stripped out, years of gallery content migrated without a single image lost.
The problem with the existing website
The previous website had gradually become difficult to maintain. Over the years it had been built using a collection of older page builders and slider plugins that were no longer actively maintained. It still functioned, but problems were accumulating.
- Plugin compatibility problems
- Bugs appearing in page layouts
- Slower page load speeds
- Difficulty updating certain sections of the site
The biggest challenge was the extensive image gallery built up over many years. It contained a large amount of valuable visual content showcasing products, events and installations, so preserving it during the rebuild was critical.
Rebuilding it properly
After reviewing the website structure and existing systems, we recommended rebuilding on a modern WordPress framework — a stable, widely supported platform that the team can manage internally, and one that lets the website grow without relying on outdated plugins or fragile page builders.
We analysed the existing structure and content to make sure nothing important was lost, developed the new site using modern development standards and lightweight tools, then migrated the content across. Rather than manually recreating the gallery, we built a migration process that moved the image content safely into the new system — no images lost, existing content intact, and room for the gallery to keep growing.
Before vs after
What the rebuild changed
- Outdated page builders → a modern WordPress system
- Problematic plugins → a stable, supported plugin ecosystem
- A gallery that was hard to maintain → fully migrated and expandable
- Limited flexibility → content the team can manage themselves
- Slow, buggy layouts → significantly more reliable performance
“These guys are very professional and have worked for us for years and years, always giving us 100%. Give them a try — you won’t be disappointed.”
Paul — Managing Director, Source SoundsThen we went to work on growth
A modern website provides the foundation, but consistent organic growth comes from an effective SEO strategy. After the rebuild we implemented a comprehensive optimisation plan designed to improve visibility for customers searching for car audio, dash camera and vehicle security services across Sheffield and the surrounding areas.
That work included keyword research, competitor analysis, on-page optimisation, metadata improvements, internal linking enhancements and ongoing technical SEO. We continually review performance and refine content so the site stays competitive as search trends evolve.

Local search does the heavy lifting
For a business offering professional installation services, visibility in local search matters as much as traditional organic rankings. We actively optimise the Source Sounds Google Business Profile — regular profile updates, service optimisation, image uploads, Google Posts and accurate business information — so they stay visible in Google Search and Google Maps.

Landing pages built for high intent
A key part of the strategy has been expanding the website with pages that target customers searching for a specific service rather than general information. One example is the dedicated Thinkware Dashcam Installation Sheffield page, created to capture local searches from customers looking for professional dash camera fitting.
Rather than relying on broad product pages, these service-specific landing pages let Source Sounds target searches where the customer is much closer to buying. Each one is structured with optimised titles and metadata, keyword-focused headings, clear service information, strong calls to action, internal links to related services and location-focused content.
Continuous technical SEO
We regularly audit the website using Google Search Console and professional SEO tools to find and fix technical issues before they affect visibility.
